Comsocks Version 3.08/3.08a
( Support Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium )


This version has been tested under Windows 95, 95 OSR2.1, 98 first and second edition, NT 4.0 workstation and server, SP 4, SP5, Windows 2000 server by using a dial-up networking, an ADSL connection through TeleSystems PPPoE adapter, or a Mediaone cable modem. This version also supports Windows Millennium. However, the NAT function does not work with Token Ring cards. If this is the case, you can use a traditional proxy, which is available in all versions.

The NAT feature is available in both Standard and Plus version. A zero-configuration in any client computer is possible if you also use a DHCP server* (No IP assignment, no DNS and default Gateway). No need to setup your browser, email software, newsgroup reader, etc.... In the gateway, do the following:

  1. Assign an IP and netmask (but no default gateway) to the local network card in Windows network properties
  2. Enable NAT in the proxy server
  3. If you want DHCP, configure and enable DHCP under the Daemon tab in the proxy server*
If you are using DHCP, do not specify IP, DNS and Default Gateway* in any client computer, otherwise, you need to do so.

If you have a previous version of Comsocks and you got the licence in 2000, Do not install this version. Your key won't work. You will need to do an upgrade. Please uninstall your previous version first before you install the new version (you need to reboot your system after you uninstall the previous version).
