Email Settings (Obsoleted)
This information is only necessary if your email software is using a
traditional proxy server. If using NAT, you don’t need to configure these.
- click Daemons Tab
- highlight the Email daemon, and click Configuration button
- please verify that the proxy IP address of the gateway in your local network (i.g. 192.168.0.1.) appears in the list.
If it is not, you need to remove the old one and add a new one. You can have
multiple PROXY IP : PORT lines if your gateway connects to multiple local
networks (your gateway has multiple network interface cards). Don't use the IP address from the Internet.
- check the proxy port number is 110 for POP3 and 25 for SMTP protocol. POP3 is used to received emails
from your remote POP3 server. SMTP is used to send an email to your remote SMTP
server. For each network IP address , you will normally have a pair of 110 and 25 ports.
- click Advanced button for other POP3 and SMTP settings.
- enter your remote POP3 server name or IP into <POP3 Default Remote Server> box.
- enter number 110 into <POP3 Remote Port>
- enter delimiter character # into <Delimiter Character> if you have multiple
email accounts. In that case, enter your user_id#remote_server_name in the
place for your user login name in your email client software for each of your email
account. ComSocks will parse this user name and replace the default remote
server name.
- enter your remote SMTP server name or IP into <SMTP Default Remote Server> box.
- enter number 25 into <SMTP Remote Port>
- choose a proxy port number (typical 25) from the drop-down list. ComSocks will monitor this port number
and route any outgoing email to the default SMTP remote server. If you don’t
see 25 in the drop-down list, you may have removed it from the list in the
previous window.
- click OK to accept the settings for every dialog box.
- highlight the daemon again and click Enable button to enable the service.
