FTP Client
The following information is only necessary if you are using a traditional
proxy server for ftp. If using NAT, you don’t need to configure these. You will
ftp directly to the Internet.
In traditional proxy, your client computers need to FTP to the gateway (not
to the remote host) and set its USER ID to remote_user_id@remote_ftp_host_name
to login remote ftp host. For examples, if ComSocks proxy server is running from
192.168.0.1 at port 21 for FTP, and you are using DOS FTP, you will enter “ftp
192.168.0.1” (default port is 21) or “ftp 192.168.0.1 21” (explicitly specify
the proxy port) in the DOS prompt window. Then you will enter your login id to
“my_id@ftp.microsoft.com” if you want to connect to Microsoft FTP site.
For the web browser embedded FTP, i.g. using “ftp://” scheme, you are using a
CERN FTP protocol and need specify your web browser to use the CERN FTP proxy
(setting the FTP proxy setting field to the same like HTTP field). See Browser Proxy Settings
For WS-FTP, you may enable the Firewall setting under Firewall Tab and enter
the gateway's IP in the Host Name, ignore UserID and Password, select USER with
no logon).
