pcAnywhere
Note: This configuration is designed to work with version 3.01 of ComSocks using NAT. If you are using an
earlier version, please download and install version 3.01.
The pcAnywhere software can be run in two different scenerios: (1) A pcAnywhere client behind the ComSocks
host is used to connect to a pcAnywhere host elsewhere on the internet, and (2) a pcAnywhere client elsewhere
on the internet is trying to connect to a pcAnywhere host situated behind a ComSocks host. In the first case,
pcAnywhere will be able to connect to the host without any additional configuration. However, running a pcAnywhere
host behind ComSocks requires the following additional steps.
- Open the ComSocks manager and click on the Port Mapping tab. Then, click the
Add button to configure the first port mapping
- Enter a name for this port mapping, such as pcAnywhere TCP In #1
- From the Proxy IP Address selection menu, please select 0.0.0.0(Any IP)
- Enter the Proxy Port 5631, and click Add
- Enter the IP of the client computer that will be using pcAnywhere into the Destination
Name or IP. In this example it is 192.168.0.2, though this may not be the case for your
network.
- Enter 5631 into the Destination Port
- Select TCP from the Transport selection menu
- Click Ok

- Click the Add button to configure a second port mapping
- Configure this port mapping exactly as the previous, but use port number
5632 in the place of 5631
- Give the port mapping a name different than the previous, and click Ok

- Click the Add button to configure the third port mapping
- Enter a name for this port mapping, such as pcAnywhere UDP In #1
- From the Proxy IP Address selection menu, please select 0.0.0.0(Any IP)
- Enter the Proxy Port 5631, and click Add
- Enter the IP of the client computer that will be using pcAnywhere into the Destination
Name or IP
- Enter 5631 into the Destination Port
- Select UDP from the Transport selection menu
- Check Bidirectional UDP
- Click Ok

- Click the Add button to configure a second port mapping
- Configure this port mapping exactly as the previous, but use port number
5632 in the place of 5631
- Give the port mapping a name different than the previous, and click Ok

- Click on the General tab
- Remove the check from Use this proxy IP for all daemons and port mapping
- Click Apply
